Donna Zekas

What is and what might have been: these uncertain times of stops, starts, stops and restarts influence my work which is shaped by the process of building up and breaking down.

Through the exploration of visual elements my direction and ideas shift and change weaving together many strands of techniques and thought. Whether it is sculpting or painting my method of working is process directed; the choices she makes are intuitive and for the most part spontaneous. She submits and react intuitively relying on my instincts and impulses with the knowledge that each step will be altered.

The techniques she uses are varied; the inherent qualities of the mediums, the layering of materials and the repetitive process of addition and removal of paints, chalks, sculptural fragments and patinas etc. The interrelated and interdependent alignment of technique, mediums and content affect the mood and essence of my work.
